Hacienda del Álamo golf course, school and driving range
The resort has an 18-hole course, a 6-hole tuition course, golf academy and driving range
Since it first opened in November 2004, the internationally recognised golf course at Hacienda del Álamo has proven a popular choice for both local and international golfers alike.
Ryder Cup star Miguel Ángel Jiménez is quoted as saying that this is one of the best courses in the country, with wide fairways and a springy base, due to the fact that the course was built on natural land.
The 18-hole championship course has been set over 6,800m (7,500 yards) and was designed by Dave Thomas. It has been described by him as a “thinker's course", as well as being one of the longest and widest in the country. There are plenty of challenging water features and interesting quirks.
There are ten-minute tee times during busy periods and it is said among golfers that it can take up to 5 hours to play the course if time is taken to enjoy the challenges.
The course is open for visitors as well as club members, and younger players are welcome.
Facilities are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year with the first tee opening at 8.00 and closing at sunset.
The clubhouse has a pro shop and will be happy to discuss the course with new players, as well as hiring equipment , including shoes, clubs and buggies.
Academy Golf Course
The club has a superb training and teaching facility in the 5-star Academy Course, which offers 6 holes and is ideal for beginners or improvers. It´s also an excellent refresher course for those who haven't played for a while, or those with medical conditions which make playing a full-length course difficult.
Hacienda Golf Academy and Driving range
The academy is opposite the clubhouse and is the most comprehensive of its kind in the area ,offering the same well-maintained greens as the professional course. The facilities are second to none, with a practice pitch and putting green, a 36-bay driving range on two levels or a play-all-day practice green.
There is a fully-serviced clubhouse plus 2 practice greens with bunkers.
The Academy has a full professional tuition service, with state of the art teaching digital swing analysis and lessons in various techniques. There are also classes available for individuals or groups.
For information on green fees, competitions and events, go to the clubhouse reception, call 968 157236 or visit the website.
Hacienda Del Álamo clubhouse
There is a spectacular clubhouse at Hacienda del Álamo with a full range of social facilities.
In addition to the golfing facilities, the clubhouse also includes a restaurant and cafeteria, which offer a choice of formal or informal menus, as well as serving drinks and snacks throughout the day.
There is also an attractive sun terrace, which is popular with visitors who want to relax and enjoy the views across the course to the mountains of the Sierra Espuña in the distance. A free WIFi zone, TV room, games room and billiard room are also available for patrons' use.
On the first floor is the Sports Shareholders VIP Lounge, which holds black tie events, private functions and dinner and dances.
